Yes, Instagram now has the functionality to checkout without ever leaving the app. What does this mean for you as an ecommerce entrepreneur?

This means that you can use the audience that you have to direct them to the items that most popular, on sale, or that is brand new to your collection and have them feel safe about checking out right from your Instagram feed. This increases the opportunity for a potential customer checking out versus leaving your site or leaving the cart. Also, this means that checking out can become more shareable as well.

So how does it work?

When you tap to view a product from a post, the potential customer will see “Checkout on Instagram” button on the product page. Then tap it to select from the various options that you offer for that particular product such as size o color, and then the customer would proceed to payment without leaving Instagram. And the best thing is that when they enter their information the first time, they will not have to enter it again unless something has changed!

Currently the beta is only available to the following brands, but prepare your feed to be engaging enough that people will be ready to buy straight from your posts:
